The Emfit Care™ Story
EMFIT (“electromechanical film technology”) is a pioneer in ballistocardiography and the world’s leading manufacturer of sleep monitoring devices based on this technology.
The EMFIT story began in 1990 when a group of passionate experts decided to use technology to improve human well-being. Over the years, we have developed innovative solutions that enhance quality of life and increase safety, especially for the elderly. Our mission is to help aging individuals live safely and comfortably, and our vision is to create a world where technology supports everyone’s well-being.
In 1996, we launched our operations in the elder care sector, and since then, we have focused on developing comprehensive solutions that make a real difference in everyday life.
A major milestone in our history occurred in 2002 when the father of a child with epilepsy contacted us, suggesting we develop a device to monitor tonic-clonic seizures. Now, more than 30 years later, EMFIT MM, part of the EMFIT CARE system, is the best-selling product of its kind worldwide and is widely used across the globe.
The EMFIT CARE system we developed brings numerous benefits, including fewer caregiver sick leaves, reduced falls and wandering incidents among our customers, and fewer pressure ulcers. Thanks to these solutions, caregivers can focus more on what truly matters: caring for the elderly and ensuring their well-being.
One of our most significant achievements is EMFIT QS, a fourth-generation contactless vital sign monitor, which is also part of the EMFIT CARE system. It measures heart and respiration rate, sleep stages, and body movements discreetly, even through a thick mattress. This provides peace of mind for both the elderly and their loved ones.
With the EMFIT CARE system, caregivers can monitor residents’ well-being in real time and gain valuable insights that help them anticipate potential issues. Our goal is to make elder care safer and more comfortable, ensuring that every aging individual can enjoy their later years worry-free. We are continuously developing new innovations and are committed to being a trusted partner in elder care, providing security and peace of mind through technology. Together, we can ensure that every elderly person receives the care and love they deserve, no matter where they are.

We introduced the second-generation Emfit MM in 2008, and it is still in production. In North America, it is sold under the name Emfit MM, while in other parts of the world, it is sold under the name Abilia, which acquired its rights from us in a business transaction in 2017. In total, nearly 100,000 units have been manufactured.
The DVM 9150 was launched in 2009 and was one of the world’s first local network-based devices for contactless monitoring of a patient’s vital parameters.
In 2015, we launched Emfit QS. It was our first internet-based bed monitor. It is still in production, and the second generation is now available in both Wi-Fi and mobile network versions.
“EMFIT CARE is more than just technology – it’s a commitment to elderly care and well-being.”
